Moving on and moving up...

Today, I informed my manager that I will be moving this summer.  This weekend I was working with Jenn Haines and it came out that we were both leaving around the same time so we decided we would both tell her today. It is difficult when one therapist leaves in the department, two full-time therapists leaving will really shake things up.  I was going to wait until we decided exactly where we were moving to tell Mary Ann but when Jenn told me she was leaving as well, I knew I needed to tell her ASAP so she could begin making arrangements. 

I caught Mary Ann after lunch and asked if I could speak with her. One thing about my boss is she always has time to hear your concerns about things, regardless of how busy she is. I told her there was something important that I needed to talk to her about. After she picked her jaw up off the floor she was really happy for Matt and me. She said with all her "wisdom" that she knows Matt and I are making a really great decision that is going to secure our future for us and our family. 

She was extremely supportive and offered to write a recommendation and counsel me on my resume and interview skills. This puts me at ease slightly about getting a new job. 

I had some anxiety about telling Mary Ann but after our discussion I felt much better. 

So things are happening.  It is real. We are moving.
