Labor Day Weekend

Labor Day Weekend was great. Friday night, we went downtown for The Taste of Colorado to meet some friends and hang.

There are random pianos downtown for anyone to play if they are so inclined

I think this was called the Gravitron in my day

I'll take your word for it

Kids were lined up for this "ride" where they just jumped off onto a mat
This kid almost fell off the side

Liz was in town from San Diego!

?

Saturday we drove to Fort Collins with John and Liz and had a great time eating lunch, walking around Old Town and taking a short hike before heading back to Denver.

We hiked up in Poudre Canyon (pronounced poo-der) which was gorgeous!

As we were heading back on the trail towards the car, a couple stopped us and said they heard a rattlesnake up ahead. We took a couple steps forward and heard the rattle. AHHH! I tried to get closer to see where the snake was and it was a foot of so from the trail. The trail was narrow with brush on each side so we made sure there weren't any more snakes on the opposite side of the trail then walked past in the brush. It was scary to see the rattler up close all coiled, ready to attack. I love all beings and my rule is to never hurt anything that isn't actively trying to hurt me but I was ready to whack that snake with a pole if it tried. It didn't and we all escaped unharmed. Thank goodness the couple was there to warn us and the folks behind us because we would have run right into it.

A little blurry due to the adrenaline pumping and hands shaking

Q: How far can a rattlesnake strike?
A: 2/3's it's body length

Great weekend.

Awesome pictures, and yes, it was the gravitron because I got kicked off of it once!
