Adventure Amputee Camp 2009

Camp as always was a BLAST! By the end I felt elated with a sense of accomplishment, as well as emotional due to the passing of the coon-skin hat and exhausted from chasing 8-17 year olds around for 4 days.

Camp was only 4 days this year instead of 5 due to financial issues. The camp is costly and it is exclusively funded by private donors. One of these donors saved the day at the last minute with a substantial donation that essentially saved camp. For each camper, the cost is over $550 which adds up to about $30,000/camp. If you are looking for a good cause to support, our camp is a wonderful way for children with amputations to explore their limits and see what is really possible. Please check out the website for photos and testimonials.

No photos of campers this year due to liability issues. They are going to try to clear it for next year but we just wanted to protect the kids and the camp from wackos on the internet.

The kids were amazing on the Alpine tower this year!

Awesome counselors!

Missy and Bob started the camp 15 years ago and have decided to hand the reins over to Karen and Matt to bring fresh ideas into the camp. Bob and Missy will not be back next year to give the new leaders a chance to find their own way. It just won't be the same without you guys.

Have fun in Africa! You will be missed....

So camp was great. I am so fortunate to be part of it. Matt and I talked for hours on the way home about ideas for next year. Watch out!
