Sauer Christmas

What a great Christmas this year! Matt and I travelled to my parent's home on Christmas Eve after work and mom had a great dinner ready for us.  She had made us this wonderful quiche with mushrooms and spinach and a nice salad. After we ate, we performed our traditional one present opening then I discovered some pre-made jello shooters in the fridge that my Mom had bought for my Dad's Christmas party at work. We decided it would be a good idea to try them and it was! What a funny sight it was to see my parents doing jello shots! Afterwards, we had to get competitive and play some Wii Sports. My parents are so good; Mom is good at bowling and Dad is wicked at tennis. After Wii, it was so warm outside we sat on the deck late into the night talking and laughing. I felt like I was in Florida. The wind through the trees almost sounded like the wind off the water at the beach.

Mom found cool baseball cards for Matt
Tommy is so SASSY!

Coasters!

Yes, my parents are still in love :-)

Because the knife is so much more classy than the finger

Yummy!

I liked fuzzy navel the best

I think I recognize that form

Beautiful tree!

After all the Christmas Eve fun, I would have liked to sleep-in Christmas morning but Mom was having no part of that. She woke Matt and I and they didn't even give me enough time to drink coffee before it was time to tear into the presents. My parents were very generous and extremely thoughtful. When we were home for Thanksgiving, she had Matt bring my Diploma home in secret and she had it mounted and framed. I had no idea, what an amazing gift! I can't wait to hang both diplomas on the wall in the office. I feel like such a professional!

Hey Mittens!

WOW! Thanks Mom and Dad!

Dad is excited but he has no idea what it is

After opening presents, we enjoyed our traditional quiche breakfast. My mom makes a wonderful Quiche Lorraine which the meat-eaters enjoyed. I loved eating the mushroom and spinach quiche again with my coffee, finally.  After breakfast, Matt set up World Tour and we rocked out. The drums are hard. I prefer guitar or singing. I guess I just need some practice. After several songs, Mom had had enough noise pollution and we packed up and the men went back to their tennis battle. Mom made her usual holiday dishes and cooked a nice prime rib. It smelled good but no thank you.

Her ears get cold when she plays the drums

It was a Brighton Christmas for Mom

After hanging out most of the day, we had to get back to Winchester so Matt could prepare for his trip to NY the next morning and I could prepare for work. I certainly wish I could have stayed longer with my family because it was a wonderful visit but I was thankful for the time I had. I love my family. Thank you Mom and Dad for everything you do.  I love you and I hope to see you soon.

Merry Christmas!

Matt is in NY until Tuesday and I miss him very much. I am so glad we got to spend Christmas together this year and he got to see what a Sauer Christmas is all about. I very much miss my NY family, I really wished I could have been there to celebrate the Holidays with them as well but we are making sacrifices now that hopefully will make life easier later.

Matt and I have both begun working very hard to prepare for our future life changes. It is hard to see an end to the madness. Matt and I decided not to do much for each other for the Holidays this year but to my surprise Matt had other plans. Matt planned a weekend away for us at the Ritz-Carlton at the end of January for us to be pampered. I am very much looking forward to this weekend away with him. Thank you Matt for thinking about us first. I love you.

Matt is working NYE but Mel and I have plans to get dolled up and go to dinner at One Block. Should be awesome! Hopefully Matt gets off of work in time to be my New Year's kiss.

I want to wish everyone a healthy, happy, prosperous new year.

Peace and love.
