Life is Good

When the cat is away, the mice will play.  Matt went to Brian's bachelor party in Philly and Atlantic City this weekend so I had the whole weekend to play with Mel. Thursday, Mel made Creme Boule and I tried my hand for the first time at chicken parm. It was pretty easy and I think it tasted pretty good. Friday was work and tasting at DaVine.  Sushi and Pinot Grigio followed.  After we finished the Pinot Grigio, we opened a Petite Sirah.  We really enjoyed sitting on the porch, sipping our wine, smoking our stogies and discussing life and how good it is.

Saturday after some recovery time, we went to Linden Vineyards in Linden, Va.  It was such a beautiful day.  We tasted and then sat on the deck and enjoyed a really nice bottle of Chardonnay. Because Mel works at Veramar Vineyard, she gets an industry discount which was really nice because we would not have been able to sit on the deck at Linden because only case club members are allowed to sit out there.

After Linden, we headed to Rappahannock Cellars which was about 10 minutes away from Linden.  Again we tasted and enjoyed a Cabernet Franc on the porch until they closed.  Dinner at Winchester Thai, if you haven't been there, check it out because it's pretty great.  After dinner, we relaxed on Mel's porch and enjoyed watching it rain.  I was exhausted when I went home.  I woke up at 7:15 am on the couch, fully dressed with all the lights on.  My phone had rang by my head and I did not hear it because I was so tired.

LIFE IS GOOD!  

Matt came home Sunday.  I missed him!  He was gone too long but I'm glad he had a good time at the party.  We had a double-header for softball. Unfortunately, we lost both games.  I'm going to have to turn off my competitiveness and just have fun because I became pretty frustrated at myself at the end our second game because I missed a catch.  There isn't any point in getting upset at myself because it is just a game and it's not like it's my livelihood.  I will certainly try my best but I will not get mad at myself anymore.  Life is too short.  

This weekend was really great.  The weather was wonderful, the company was wonderful and the wine was wonderful.  I love summer.
